What is Early Head Start?
Lake FRC Early Head Start is a federally funded program that provides many services and resources to low income families with children ages 0-3 and expectant mothers.
Lake FRC Early Head Start welcomes families from all cultural backgrounds to participate, including families with children who have special needs. Knowing that the early years in a child’s life are the most critical for brain development, we focus on the needs of your family as well as your child.

Apply to Early Head Start!
Early Head Start (EHS) programs serve infants and toddlers under the age of 3, and pregnant women. EHS programs provide intensive comprehensive child development and family support services to low-income infants and toddlers and their families, and to pregnant women and their families. Services for expectant mothers
- Prenatal support and nutrition education
- Links to birthing classes
- Education about pregnancy, labor, delivery and breast feeding.
Home based option
- Weekly home visits by skilled Home Visitors
- Fun and educational activities
- Ideas and suggestions on resources already in your home to help increase your child’s learning capacity
Center based option
- Full day, year round Child Development Center at no cost for those who qualify
- Fun and educational atmosphere
- Socialization skills
- Nutritious and delicious meals and snacks
- Small classes-4 children per teacher!

Note: Daily transportation is not provided to the Child Development Center in Lakeport. Prearranged transportation to program activities may be available.
